HR Trustees Limited is one of the largest Independent Trustee companies in the UK and has undertaken professional trusteeship services for more than 15 years. HR Trustees Limited has an experienced team of professionals who are enthusiastic and keen to achieve results working in partnership with pension schemes’ sponsoring companies, Trustees and advisers. Our strong team approach comprising a Director, Consultant and Assistant Consultants ensures that we are best placed to deliver a high quality service in a cost effective manner.

We have the added advantage of having substantial IT support from a tailor-made project management system developed specifically for our Trusteeship business. This enables us and, if necessary, other advisers to deliver to exacting standards, on time and to cost.

HR Trustees Limited operates in three main areas.

Insolvency – Many of our appointments occur when an employer with a defined benefit pension scheme becomes insolvent. In that case the insolvency practitioner must ensure that at least one of the trustees qualifies as independent and if that is not the case, must appoint an Independent Trustee. The Independent Trustee will have sole exercise of any discretionary powers given by the scheme’s trust deed and rules and will play a key role in it’s winding up or continued operation as a closed scheme.

Scheme Reviews – An increasing number of appointments relate to employers wishing to involve an independent trustee following a review of their pension arrangements. This often includes the winding-up of a scheme, the operation of a closed scheme or the merger of a number of schemes.

Ongoing Schemes – Whilst the services of a professional trustee are not obligatory where an employer is a going concern, the same qualities of independence, experience and integrity which we bring to Independent Trusteeship are increasingly in demand from ongoing schemes. We welcome the opportunity to work alongside member nominated and employer appointed trustees in the operation of both defined benefit and defined contribution schemes on an ongoing basis.
